Studio Artists (Houston, Texas)
2025 - Current
This is an ongoing series of portraits of artists in their studios—spaces that hold the quiet rituals, labor, and solitude of creative life. At its core, this project is about connection. As I photograph others, I’m also trying to understand something within myself—how I move through the world as both photographer and artist, and how that identity is shaped in relation to others.
Each portrait is the result of an exchange—one built on trust, curiosity, and mutual vulnerability. I enter these spaces not just to observe, but to engage in a kind of dialogue, even when no words are spoken. I’m drawn to the intimacy of process: the gestures of making, the mess, the materials, and the marks left behind. The studio becomes a portrait in itself—a reflection of the artist’s inner life, their habits, their hopes.
